Rabour Village Food Program
Rabuor Village
Kenya
Slum Doctor Programme is partnering with the Rabuor Village Project (RVP) to provide one nutritious meal per day to 150 pre-school orphans in Rabuor Village, western Kenya. For some of the children it may be their only meal of the day. Slum Doctor Programme has purchased three wood stoves for the kitchen.
The nursery school was founded 3 years ago with just 25 students. It is now an important source of education and support for over 150 children in Rabuor, many of whom have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. Two teachers and two aides are paid a modest salary by RVP to ensure that that the growing group of preschool-aged children who arrive daily find emotional support, hot nutritious meals, and quality education, all in a joyful community setting.
